Pool Builder Licensing
We have had many customers tell us that they have seen pool builders whose license had been revoked still doing business or contractors who claimed to have a valid license but did'nt.
Once you call up a license at Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation you can check how long the contractor has been licensed to make sure they have some staying power in the market. The more specific you are about the information you put in the search criteria the easier it is to find the contractor you are looking up. The fastest way is by license number, which by law must be located on the contactor's advertising, contract and web site. If you can not find their license number on their web site, contract or advertising, beware. Also you will be able to see if the contactor is State
Certified or State Registered. Being State Certified means that they can build anywhere in the state of Florida. State
Registered means that they were licensed in the county they
operate in and are registered with the state of Florida, but must apply to each and every other county building department for peciprocity in order to contract legally in those jurisdictions. You can also check to see if there are any public complaints that have been filed with the office or
disciplinary actions that have been taken. For example if you call up Patio Pools licensing information (CPC013686) you will see our license has been active since 1979. You will also note that there are no complaints or
disciplinary actions.
